Email Viewer IE is an easy to use add-on for Microsoft Internet Explorer that lets you open email messages stored in .msg or .eml files and access their file attachments.

Extracting File Attachments

To extract a file attachment from an email displayed in Email Viewer IE, first open the email so that it is displayed in your web browser.

Any file attachments in the email will be displayed in the email message header.

In Internet Explorer, simply right click on the file attachment and choose "Save As."

Installing and Using Email Viewer IE

To install Email Viewer IE, close all programs and run the application installer package.

To use Email Viewer IE, just click on a .msg or .eml file you wish to open and it will appear in an Internet Explorer Window.

How to disable the Internet Explorer Security Warning?

Our recommendation is to leave the security warning in place. However, if you have reasons to disable this warning, you can do so by following these instructions.

Email Viewer IE is an activeX control. As such, Internet Explorer will prompt you each time you open a message using Email Viewer IE. To prevent IE from prompting, you must adjust your security settings. To do this, go to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced Options> scroll to Security and check "Allow active content to run in files on My Computer."

Email Viewer IE works with Internet Explorer versions 6 through 8 (requires latest Microsoft updates applied). It requires Windows XP, Vista or 7.

"Side-by-Side Configuration" error message

If you receive a Windows error message that says, “The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail,” it means that a necessary pre-requisite software has failed to install on your computer.

To resolve this issue, install the Microsoft C++ distributable package. For 32-bit Windows OS computers, click here to download the file directly from Microsoft.

Set as Default for either .MSG or .EML Files

Email Viewer will ask during installation if you want it to be the default application for .msg or .eml files. To change these settings:

Right click on a .msg or .eml file file > Open With... > Choose Default Program > Browse > Program Files, Encryptomatic LLC, Email Viewer for IE > Select MVCOMsvr.exe
